We boarded the 7.20 am bus with full rain gear and Susan miraculously feeling better, in the pouring rain. As the bus took it's windy 7 km path to the main entrance of Machu Picchu our hearts sank as the low clouds covered everything. With little hope the rain or clouds would change any time soon, we still proceeded to meet our tour guide, Cosme at 8 am.
As luck would have it and the 2 hour tour got underway, the rains stopped, the clouds lifted, and the sun broke through magically unveiling this amazing site to it's full glory. We enjoyed the rest of the day, though with Susan having half the lung capacity due to her cold, we didn't do as much heaving treking as we thought we might. Still, it was an incredible visit with good weather so we were happy.
After we left the park, the low clouds and rain returned, but this time we didn't care.

Hi Richard,
I've enjoyed following your blog and thus your trip. It looks like you are having a grand time! We had the Board retreat today and you were missed but we all understand how important this trek is! The sun was really shinning in Machu Picchu how lucky you are. I wish you safe travels and fair skies.
