Back in Chile...Enjoying Seaside Resort Town of Pucon

We left San Martin del Los Andes, Argentina and decided to drive 3 hours all roads again unpaved or under construction through the Argentina and Chile borders to Hua Hum, Chile where we took the ferry to Puerto Fuy, Chile (picture).
Up to this point we had been very lax about making any hotel reservations ahead of time since we liked the freedom to change plans and have been lucky enough to continually find wonderful places. We started to become concerned that our luck may have run out since nothing was in sight or available during what turned out to be 'the busiest weekend' in this part of Chile. Once past the tiny, dusty towns of Puerto Fuy, Huilo-Huilo, Panguipulli, then local beach towns of Lican Ray and Villarrica where literally hundreds of people filled the streets leaving the beach as it was getting dark, we were tired and very discouraged. Since we had no choice we drove on another couple of hours to the beautiful upscale resort town of Pucon where again we were told everything was sold out.
As it turned out our luck held and we got the last room in town at a hotel conveniently located a block from the marina (picture upper right) and restaurant row (picture). We happily settled into enjoying 3 days of resting, walking, and eating. As if this wasn't pleasure enough, we had a constant view of the amazing, smoking Volcano Villarrica (picture).
With this, we close out the South American chapter of our trip. We now fly to Santiago to catch our flight to New Zealand.
Happy Valentine's Day to all!
