Chile - Puerto Varas and the Beautiful Lake District

We leave Lima, fly to Santiago, Chile then board another flight to Puerto Montt. From there we taxi to the picturesque lake town of Puerto Varas where we enjoyed music (upper left), great food, wonderful wines from Chile (upper right) and our first view of the amazing Osorno Volcano.
We rented a cute small, bright red Toyota Yaris and took a day trip to Frutillar, about 45 minutes away. There we learned how to start our car with the help of local mechanic and our very patient Budget technician who drove to meet us just so we could learn to press harder on the clutch...talk about feeling stupid!
Next day we reluctantly left Puerto Varas to drive 1.5 hours though beautiful countryside to Pertolhue which sits next to the emerald colored Lago Todos los Santos. Once at the lake we found this beautiful hotel where a lake view room with terrace was miraculously available with the Osorno Volcano close enough to touch! (pictures, 3rd row)
After a great night sleep we met up with Marco, a Chilean wine broker for Ciatti, who with his father Alvin took us on a 12 km boat trip to their home on the shore of Lago Todos los Santos -- so clear and green - just gorgeous! We enjoyed a wonderful day walking, talking, and of course eating a delicious lunch with fresh produce from Isabel's beautiful garden (pictures, top row).
Due to the late hour we decided to return to Puerto Varas for 1 more night, eat at our favorite restaurant and leave for Argentina the following day.
